How long to keep a gingerbread house

We've had this question many times (I really need to build a FAQ!).

It's tricky to answer since keep edible products fresh depends a lot on your environment, but most people seem to agree that gingerbread houses made from scratch can be safely eaten for at least a week (if stored free of dust, bugs,...)
