How to Make Fondant

We'll cover the basics AND some lesser-known tips for how to make fondant. Our basic fondant recipe creates a bright white, malleable, edible material that can be sculpted, molded, cut, colored, and shaped into a huge array of figures, characters, flowers, and any extra accessory for your gingerbread house.

Rolled Fondant is also frequently used to cover cakes, such as wedding cakes, leaving a perfectly smooth, satiny surface. Whatever your plan for using it, follow these steps to learn how to make fondant like a pro.

Since fondant contains fat, it will never completely harden to a rigid form. It WILL, however, hold it's shape well (like a soft clay.) Click here to read the differences between fondant and gum paste, and other edible clays.

Steps for making fondant :

Step 1: Follow the Fondant Recipe

Step 2: Flavoring, coloring, and working with Fondant

Step 3: Fondant Figures
