by: Tiffany B

Hi all,I have a question im throwing a gingerbread house decorating party for my 6year old daughter and 5 friends and i wanted to know how far in advance i can bake & assemble the houses. the party is 2 weeks away. i want to have the houses pre built for the kids when they arrive so all they have to do is the super fun part decorating (and eating all the decorations)

Shelf Life of Gingerbread
by: Kelly

Seriously, gingerbread has a REALLY long shelf-life! Most packaged products list an expiration date of 6 months to 1 year. For most individuals, the biggest issue is keeping it sealed and away from rodents.

And, of course, the candies and royal icing will probably turn before the gingerbread does.

If you're baking early for Christmas or an event, you can store gingerbread cookies in the refrigerator for several weeks or the freezer for several months and be very comfortable about eating it.
