Gingerbread house placed in the sun for display

They tell me the local contest will make us place our entries into local shop windows which will be in the sunshine. They recommend not using chocolate or marshmallow crème, candy glass, etc. Will gelatin used for windows just melt as well? Seems they are taking all of the fun out of this by destroying them in the sunshine! Please help!
