How would one construct a dome shape on top of a flat gingerbread house? For example the dome on the U.S capitol.

Here's our page on dome/bowls

Here's our page on this site about how to make gingerbread bowls (or domes if upside-down):

You could easily use this same technique with smaller bowls to make small domes for roof parts.

Have fun!

Dome for a gingerbread house
by:

I would use a small stainless steel bowl turned upside down and shape the gingerbread dough over it, then bake it on the bowl. The finished result will be a dome shape that matches whatever bowl you used. These also make very nice edible containers for candy or cookies!
