Hi. I have instructions to make a gumpaste swan which requires me to use gum glue to fix the feathers onto a wire. what is gum glue, do I really need it and if so, how do I make it?
Hi,
I dissolve a small piece of gumpaste in a very small amount of water and stir until the gumpaste is totally dissolved. That makes perfect glue. Remember if you put the glue on the wire and insert it into the wings it should dry thoroughly overnight before you work with it. Good luck

Gum glue by any other name by: Esprit64
I'm guessing that gum glue is the same as gum paste adhesive or gum arabic? Gum paste adhesive is a mix of 1 Tbsp meringue powder to 1 Tbsp water. Gum arabic is mixed with water. Not seeing your final project and why the pieces required are suggested to be gum glued, I cannot say whether the glue is necessary. However, when I do projects, one of my priorities is to have as many parts set in "cement" as possible. The less things possible that may fall apart, the better.
