The type of candy you use for your gingerbread project is dependent on many things: its size, what effects you want to achieve, how labor intensive you want to make it.
Once you've decided on the size and style of your house, review photos of other gingerbread projects and decide which decorations you want to duplicate for your own. With this information in mind, take a walk thru your grocer's aisle and see which candy type fits your design--and to the scale you need.
All candy can be affixed to gingerbread using royal icing as "glue."
