The First Snow

The First Snow

This house was modeled after several houses in New Bern, NC. I combined the look and style of three individual houses and came up with this one. It was a Top Ten finalist at the 2007 National Gingerbread Competition in Asheville.

Eatable???
by: Annie

Fiona,
Although the gingerbread house is all edible, its not exactly palatable. My houses are built for competition, so it takes months to construct. During that time it will collect dust, not to mention a variety of other airborn bacteria's, i.e. sneezing, counter crud, etc. Good luck to you in your design and don't forget to post it on gingerbread house heaven so all of us can see it. Again, thanks for your kind comments.

I am going to make our first gingerbread house on Thursday night with my family. After seeing this I feel very scared!

What an amazing job. Do you eat it?

Congratulations.

Construction
by: Annie

Eureka,
The turret (rounded center) was made by laying gingerbread (unbaked) over a soup can. I cut out the windows, then baked...very simple. The "widows walk" was made of linguine and gum paste. Thanks for your sweet comments.

This house is amazing. This reminds me of my Victorian. I would like to know how did you make the rounded parts and the crown top?
