I was wondering what are the subsitute ingredients for: Confectioners' sugar and Tylose powder Newly married to someone from a different religion and am looking forward to going all out this Christmas with a gingerbread house and the lot. Also i live in Australia and am not sure if the confectioners' sugar is just icing sugar or caster sugar...
Tylose Powder is similar to Gum Tragacanth by: Kelly
Tylose powder is an alternative for gum tragacanth. It's the synthetic (artificial) version of natural tragacanth gum.

What is Tylose powder? by: Silkyrose
I'm in Australia too and I still haven't figured out what Tylose powder is. I'd really love to find out or even see if there is some kind of substitute for it.

Icing Sugar by: Renai
Another aussie here. Confectioners sugar is pure icing sugar. You should be able to pick it up from your local woolies or coles!!

Sugar by: Anonymous
Confectioners sugar is just powdered sugar, thats its. If you want BEST result get icing sugar but if the recipe wanted icing sugar it would have said icing sugar which is just a half way between powdered and regular grainular sugar.

Confectioners Sugar by: Jo O
I think Confectioners Sugar is icing sugar!! I watched a vid where they said they were using Confectioners sugar & it was dusting up like icing sugar & they used it to make fondant SO it HAD to be icing sugar!
I'm a hopeless clueless Aussie here too! haha! But ya will pick up the different terms here & there! I'm still clueless but I'm pretty sure about the Confectioners Sugar being icing Sugar! :))
