This gingerbread house was made using the recipes on this site. Six eggs gave the walls a good thickness, but they also caused some of the edges to curl upwards a bit - nothing that couldn't be solved with a little extra icing! However, the chimney pieces were so warped that we needed to stack them like pancakes instead of building a square box from them. I made the house as big as I could, using a whole cookie sheet to make some of the walls. Next time I'll remember to cut out windows and a door and try to imitate glass as instructed on this site. Thanks for all the building tips!
Try using a gingerbread recipe without eggs. The eggs cause dough to "rise" which is why it had warped edges. An eggless gingerbread is more cracker -like , bakes flat and produces nice pieces that are very sturdy and hold their shape better. Great house though!

Cute! by: Veronica
I like the red and green color scheme. It looks like you have red & green Christmas lights all over the roof and around the door! I like the way you used green gumdrops for the "hedge" around the edge! Very cute!
