Old Fashioned Swiss Chalet

Old Fashioned Swiss Chalet

I learned to make this little house about 35 years ago. I don't use a lot of candy so it's pretty quick to make. I used chocolate covered pretzels for the fence, rock candy on the roof and put in a little piping gel pond. I love the little shutters and the icing trellis windows. I give them a Christmas presents and they are a pretty big hit and simple to make.

How the Trees were made
by: Anonymous

For the trees I used the Sugar ice cream cones. To make different sizes I simply broke off the bottoms of the cones to make it smaller. Then I used green royal icing and a small leaf tip to pipe on leaves starting at the bottom and circling around. To finish off the whole look for the entire piece I put some powdered sugar in a sieve and made it "snow" over the house and trees.

Ohhh so sweet!

I love pretzels for fence and porch rails! All the icing is outstanding. Yeah, I can picture it as a great centerpiece. Tell me about the tree structure if it is possible to get back to me?
