how a gingerbread house stays together when its done
by: Anonymous

Use royal icing, made with egg whites and powdered sugar, to glue the pieces together. It hardens as it dries and holds the whole thing in one piece. Go ahead and use quite a lot, especially on the inside. It's more like hot glue than super glue in that way. Smaller houses stay sturdy for longer than large ones, and keeping the gingerbread dry is the most important thing. It will absorb moisture from the air over time and get soft.
