Gingerbread Biltmore House
This was one of the most amazing creations at the 2009 National Gingerbread Competition. Everyone sitting around us was speculating that it was a model of the Biltmore House until someone noticed that it was sitting on top of a book. I was thinking it was a gingerbread pop-up book (from a distance). We finally all decided that it must be Hogwarts when we saw the Harry Potter-looking glasses on the cake board next to the giant book. We've since confirmed that it actually was the Biltmore House (and just regular reading glasses rather than Harry Potter glasses).
It was really beautiful either way!

Hogwarts in Gingerbread (actually Biltmore House)
Hello, this is my creation. It is modeled after the Biltmore House. I have a video about it on youtube if you want to know more details about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1Sv6mSaXVs
The judges speculated the same idea that it was Hogwarts because of the dark colors used and the round glasses. But when viewed up close you can see it is a replica of Biltmore House and the spectacles are meant to depict glasses of the era. Thank you for your kind comments, it was alot of fun and I plan to enter again.

It is the Biltmore House. by: Anonymous
Actually, this IS the Biltmore house. There is a small "seal" on the back of the piece that is the Vanderbilt family logo. I was the competitor next to this one and I asked the artist which it was and she confirmed that it was the Biltmore House. The book was intended to be the story of the family.
