This was a house featured on the cover of Good Housekeeping in the mid-80s when they used to do a big Gingerbread issue for their annual contest. It's three stories tall with a Mansard roof. The first floor is a kitchen complete with a little stove, cupboard and table. The second floor is the living room with Christmas tree with little presents, rug, chair, fireplace and candles on the mantle. I used fruit rollups to make curtains. The third floor had a bed with Chiclet quilt and a dresser. I made little gingerbread people around the base. There were a lot of pieces but it was really fun to do.
Just realized it makes it sound like it was my housee on the cover----nope. That's just where I got my inspiration and the pattern--I just copied what was on the magazine cover and added my own bits and pieces.

so you were talented way back then? by: Veronica Arthur
Wow! I'm impressed! On the COVER?!! This must have appeared on an issue before I entered the "gingerbread scene". I didn't start til 1987. I love that the "owners" made thier own gingerbread house! The gingerbread people border is way cute. It gives the perfect finishing touch! Thanks for the link so we can see better detail. Fabulous piece!
