Gingerbread Log Cabin 2017: Front

Gingerbread Log Cabin 2017: Front

This year I wanted to attempt a Log Cabin.

I took a basic house pattern, added the ledge in front and Chimney.

I used Rod Pretzels. There are tricky as the pretzels aren't straight. They curve a little.

The fire-pit is pretzels and spice drops. Bench in front of fire-pit is gingerbread.

The trees are ice cream cones. I melted green "Candy Melts" (from Michaels) and put green dyed rice krispies. ( to die. put water and green food color in a spray bottle. Spritz the rice krispies, mix, spritz, mix. Don't over spritz or their get soggy.

Roof is rice chex cereal

I found the blue car at toys-r-us. (it's my car) and put a fake christmas tree (Michaels) on top.

Fence is pretzels sticks.

Fireplace are Honey-ed Pecon's and Walnuts from Target.

Michaels was having a sale on their Halloween items, so I picked up a pack of 50 string orange lights.

I cut a whole next to the chimney to put the lights through.

It was fun!!
Thank you for looking!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

pretzel frence

To Anonymous,

I royal icing each side of the pretzel stick, stuck them together (probably 6-7 sticks per group). Then I took another pretzel stick and royal icing'd it going vertical to help hold the group together. Then I put the green royal icing on top of that vertical pretzel stick. Let it dry overnight. Take your time attaching to the white 'snow" on the ground. I hope that helps. It's a slow process.

I need help! I have a group of ten neighbor kids at my house each year and we have never found success with getting the pretzel stick fence to stay upright. What is your secret?
