I made this, my very first gingerbread house, for my Grandmother. I had made one small house from a kit several years ago and she enjoyed watching my youngest daughter and I put it together so much. I told her one day I would make one from scratch, just for her......well she passed away in March and I never got around to building a gingerbread house for her so this was built with all my love for her and I feel like she was with me, enjoying every moment as much as I did. Everything except the base is edible. The trees are sugar cones covered in royal icing, the roof if covered with fondant, the fence is made of small pretzels. I was a huge learning process but so gratifying as well!
