This, our first gingerbread house was derived from patterns in a great book, The Gingerbread Architect. We made this for our local coffee shop competition. All ingredients were edible, with the exception of the light inside.

We used hard candies crushed up in our cutouts, which melted when baking into our "stained glass" window effect. That was fun!

We wowed the coffee shop staff, but judging was done by public vote, and our was not a winner. Well, there is always this year! I found your site looking for ideas for our entry for this year's contest.

As soon as we complete it, we'll share the pics with you!
