made mixture for gingerbread house but its crumbling, what shall i do?

Crumbly dough?

You need to check your recipe. Mine calls for 1 cup of softened butter. I don't use shortening. Be sure you have a good recipe to go by.

Are you sure you put the right amount of shortening when you made the dough? This could be why it is crumbly. I used half the required shortening recently. I softened the shortening and slowly beat in the crumbly dough until the shortening incorporated. Fortunately, it worked. Hope this helps.
