Carousel Horses

How do you secure Gingerbread horses to the top and bottom of a carousel. I tried to royal ice 2 pieces of candy cane (as I could not find 7" candy canes and it is not working. Suggestions?

Isomalt is perfect for this! You can use regular melted sugar if you like but isomalt is just easier to work with. Dip each end of the pole into melted isomalt then attach right away. It will dry in about 30 seconds to one minute and forms a very strong bond!
